London, United Kingdom — May 2, 2025 (regional integration.org) – The Centre for Regional Integration is pleased to announce the launch of its official podcast, New Regional Orders, a global series that examines how regional dynamics influence–and are influenced by–the broader international system. Designed for policymakers, academics, students, and ambitious professionals, the podcast offers fresh insight into the role of regions in shaping today’s most pressing governance and policy challenges.
Hosted by Dr. Ivo Ganchev, Founding Director of the Centre and a specialist in international strategy, New Regional Orders features multidisciplinary conversations with leading experts from around the world. Each season focuses on a different region and explores the economic, political, social, security, and geographic forces driving regional integration and global influence.
“There is no global order without regional orders, which constitute core layers of international politics and trade,” said Dr. Ganchev. “This podcast brings together voices that help us understand how regions operate internally, how power is distributed within them, and how their development shapes the world we live in.”
The inaugural season turns to the Americas, highlighting the region’s complex historical legacies, ongoing political and economic transformations, as well as the evolving role of its regional organizations.
Episode 1, now available on all major podcasting platforms, features Professor Tom Long (University of Warwick) in a wide-ranging discussion on U.S. power in Latin America, the strategic importance of small states, and the roles and limitations of regional organizations.
Episode 2, to be released shortly, features Dr. Alina Gamboa Combs (Anáhuac University) and explores Mexico’s pivotal role in bridging North and Latin American regionalism, with special attention to Mesoamerica.
New Regional Orders bridges theory and practice by drawing on the expertise of both academics and practitioners. The series provides accessible yet rigorous analysis aimed at informing public discourse and supporting better decision-making at all levels–from local governance to international institutions and businesses.
